The Week In Black Style

BET Honors were held late last week so I didn't get a chance to post about it, and it seems that the celebs brought out their style A-game for the prestigious event. Though she wasn't being honored. Vivica Fox delivered one of her best red carpet looks. In a sapphire blue gown with a bejeweled neckline. She proved she can be classy and fabulous.

Though her makeup was unsatisfactory, I loved Kerry Washington's emerald green empire waist gown designed by Marchesa. If you notice that Kerry and Viv's dresses are rather similar. They're both form-fitting on top and flowing on the bottom. It's a gorgeous silhouette on every body type.

Gabrielle Union was recently added to my list of celebs who can do no wrong. She looks stunning in her shockingly short halter dress. I love that she kept the accessories to a minimum, and let the jewels on that dress do all the talking.

Regina Hall's talent has been overlooked, but you can't deny the fabulousness of this ensemble. Usually when celebrities try to go more casual on the red carpet, they end up looking a damn fool (see below), but Regina infused a bit of low-key glamour into her look by pairing an understated dress with a metallic clutch and heels.

Watch out for the big girls! The Queen killed 'em in basic black at the "Mad Money" premiere.

I'm enjoying the understated sophistication of Bey's ensemble. It's a different look for her; there's no glitter, sequins, or crayola colors, and I'm loving it. The black one-piece reminds me of a look worn by Jennifer Hudson that I loved. Is bey singlehandedly about to bring back culottes?

I'm of the opinion that people looking to break into the proverbial big time should use the red carpet as a launching pad a la Elizabeth Hurley and never step foot on it without looking their best. What in the world is Toni Trucks wearing?

What in the white-gloved/sequined hell? Lil Mama was simply trying to do too much with this outfit that she wore on the set of her latest video.

I don't know where Mary thought she was going, but it couldn't have been a premiere. Putting chinchilla (or whatever that is) on your wedge-heeled boots does not make them appropriate for the red carpet.

Who did you love/hate? What do you think about Bey's outfit? Did I make a mistake about Mary? Let me know, and have a fabulous weekend.
