Michelle Obama Covers Vogue

Michelle Obama covers the this month's issue of American Vogue looking graceful as ever. In the cover story, Andre Leon Talley highlights Mrs. Obama's exceptional character as well as her fashion sense. He also addresses the flack that Mrs. Obama caught for her election night dress.

Some critics made noise about the plain black cardigan the First Lady-to-be wore on November 4 in Grant Park over her Narciso Rodriguez dress. She is unrepentant: "I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it," Mrs. Obama says of the criticism. "But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear—people just have different tastes. Some will think that a sweater was horrible, [but] I was cold; I needed that sweater!"

Style Jury: Solange After The Grammy's

Solange Grammy's

Solange is quickly becoming known less for being Beyonce's little sister than for her quirky, "cutting edge" style choices. I love what she wore to the Grammys, but I'm not so sure about this outfit. To be honest, I think the shoes kill it for me. But then again, I might just be a style square. So what do you think about Solange's look? The headband? The jacket? The purse? Is it working for you?

The Bal Crillon des Debutantes
Sokhna N’Dour attended the annual Crillon Ball in Paris where daughters of heavy hitters from the worlds of politics, entertainment, art and fashion come together to be "presented" as women to the world.

Age: 16

Hometown: Dakar, Senegal

Bloodline: Father is Senegalese pop singer Youssou N’Dour (who was described by Rolling Stone in 2004 as “perhaps the most famous singer alive” in Africa).

Education: Dakar French High School, where she’s studying economics.

Wearing: Franck Sorbier

Escort: Papou Ndiaye, friend of her older brother, Biran.

Role model: N’Dour flew to Sorbier’s Paris showroom with her father and brother in tow to select her dress. While there, she realized that her aunt had been a model for the designer years earlier.

The 1980's era gave birth to many personalities bigger than... let's say, your mom's padded shoulder blazers, but none were as remarkable and memorable than singer, actress, model, and overall style icon Grace Jones. Jones was born in 1948 in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Her style could be best described as "in-your-face"and androgynous which was curated in partnership with stylist Jean-Paul Goude, with whom she had a son. Grace has played major roles in films such as "Boomerang" with Eddie Murphy and James Bond "A View to Kill". She has also inspired the likes of artist Andy Warhol and was a heavy influence in at Studio 54 and the whole disco scene. Grace is also on the cover of February's V magazine and is due to release an album titled "Hurricane" later in 2009.

Look of the Day: Taraji Henson

Oscar Nominee Taraji P. Henson is quickly becoming one of my favorite fashionistas in Black Hollywood. Her style is anything but predictable, and she's been looking incredible.

Ms. Henson knows what works for her, and she's been spotted on the red carpet in a similar shade of bronze/gold earlier to the SAG awards.
