Amber Riley Delivers Another Hollywood Glamour Moment At SAG Awards

You know what? This seals it. Amber Riley is my new red carpet queen. She's the woman I'm most looking forward to seeing at awards shows and the best part is she delivers.
Ms. Riley wore black, one-shoulder Anne Barge gown. The mermaid cut of the gown and ruching looked fab on her figure.
As you see, I'm becoming a stan. Amber brings a much needed breath of fresh air to these major mainstream events.

Rosario Dawson Brings The Sunshine To SAG Awards

Rosario Dawson rarely looks anything short of stunning, and she didn't disappoint at this year's SAG Awards.
This pastel yellow J Mendel dress was a perfect choice as the fashionistas gear up for a new season. The color pops against her bronzed skin, and the cut is sexy without being too revealing.
I especially love her jade earrings and gold bangles. The accessories gave it an easy springtime feel.

Love It or Leave It: Zoe Saldana in YSL

I'm not a super fan of Zoe Saldana's style. She's undeniably fashionable, and I love that she takes risks. But she is inconsistent, and she doesn't usually leave me gagging (in a good way).
She wore YSL Spring 2011 to a movie premiere recently, and I'm feeling conflicted. A part of my loves the daring cut of the dress. Then again, I'm not so sure.

Ask Kim: What Should I Wear To My Burlesque Themed 21st?

Hi Kim!
My twenty first birthday is April 16th. I'm throwing this big party with a 1940's masquerade theme, main colors are black and white. The decor and costumes are very burlesque style. I'm in desperate need of dress ideas. Turning 21 I want to be suoer classy, chic, yet I would love to remain sexy. I need to stand out from everyone one else in the room. I would love my dress to be red.
Please help!
Thank you!
Nate'
First of all Nate, I love that the idea of a burlesque themed party. It's all about over-the-top glamour without crossing the line into tacky. This is an opportunity to be as dramatic as you wanna be. Here are a few different dress options that you might like.

Get The Look: Alexandra Burke's Office Chic

British songstress Alexandra Burke almost always looks impeccable. Her style is usually a little bit younger, but this conservative ensemble works as an office look or a date outit (when it warms up a bit).
I love how Alex looks put together but relaxed. This is a pretty simple look to recreate. Here are my picks.

Mo'Nique Still Knows How To Pick A Fab Dress

I see Mo'Nique dusted off her good half wig to announce the Oscar nominees (#noshade). The Oscar winner looked incredible in her misty green knee-length dress. Well placed ruching creates an hour-glass shape, and she kept the accessories subtle.
Mo'Nique proved last awards season that she (and/or her stylist) know and understand her body, and that's made all the difference in her dress selections.
Sidenote: Are those shaved legs I see? Did the man (or her man) finally get to Mo'Nique?

Style Files: Shingai Shoniwa at South Bank Sky Arts Awards

Normally, I'd roast the hell out of anyone who wore this outfit. It makes absolutely no sense, but it's Shingai Shoniwa (lead singer of The Noisettes) and she can do whatever she wants.
Whatever, haters. I know y'all got something to say. Let me hear it.

Love It or Leave It: Kerry Washington at Sundance

I'm usually gagging over Kerry Washington's style (that's a good thing), but this outfit she wore at the Sundance Film Festival is doing nothing for me. The satin clutch with the black jeans and lace cami are giving me D.E.B. vibes just a little bit.

The first month of 2011 is nearly over, and celebs like Rihanna and Amber Rose have already served up top notch fashion. These are my picks for this month's best dressed celebs.

Yasss! You better work, betch!
Amber Riley was a showstopper at this year's Golden Globes. Her Oliver Tolentino gown was a perfect choice. The metallic with black accents definitely toed the line between costume party and red carpet but the hair and simple jewelry reigned it in and it WERKED.
A+++ for Amber. Keep shining, girl!

For Vanessa Williams 40 Really Is The New 25

This is precisely why I've decided to start taking better care of myself. How is it that Vanessa Wiliams is 47 and still looking this stunning?
I have no complaints about her one-shoulder Roberto Cavalli dress. The color and cut are perfect for her complexion and figure. And although this dress could have been super cheesy with the head to toe sequins, it Ms. Williams makes it look effortless.
Sidenote: I love that the over 40s are still killing it, but it's sad that there were practically no young Black celebrities at the Globes. #depressing

Is Halle Berry Doing Too Much or Too Little?

I'll always have love for Halle Berry for being the lone mainstream go-to Black actress in Hollywood, but this seems like an appropriate time to bring up my consistent beef with her and her stylist.
Yes she's flawless, and she will always be flawless, but her red carpet style is so unimaginative.
How is it that this Black Nina Ricci dress is simultaneously doing too much and too little? I kind of hate that Halle is resting on this "hottest mom on the block" thing rather than opting for designs that are interesting or even attractive.
We get it, Halle. You can wear a neglige in public, and no one will bat an eyelash. But let's think outside of this box for the Oscars, k?

Yassss Kelly! You better work.
Kelly Rowland wore black leggings with leather patches, a translucent body suit, and black leather jacket which were cute together, but by far the best part of the outfit are the pasties barely covering her nipples.
I've felt for a long time that Kelly has one of the best bodies in the business, and I don't mind her showing it off one bit. Her girls look great, and this is the way you do a sexy, club outfit. #staymad

Nicki Minaj Serves Knights of the Roundtable

Before we get into the style, let me get something off my chest. I love Nicki. Love her. LOVE. HER. But I'm about tired of the My Little Pony wigs.
This quilted leather LBD with an oversized jewel-encrusted cross detail is giving me a 90s vibe, and I love it. But the wedge booties are throwing me off. Orthopedic space boots are not the move. But of course Ms. Minaj pulls the entire look together with attention-grabbing accessories.
Nicki's style is confusing to me though. Is it quirky high fashion or is it gaudy mall-wear?

Claudia Jordan is gorgeous. What more is there to say?
For her NYE look, she opted for sequins which have quickly become a party girl staple. The pink and silver mini dress was perfect for the night.

She Never Disappoints: Rihanna Goes Sheer for NYE

The funny thing about Rihanna is despite the fact that she's always wearing something super short or see-through, it never feels like she's trying too hard.
Like when she was picking out this I can't imagine her saying, "This is going to make the blogs go crazy." She just knows, and that's why I love she.
Ri's sheer, calf-length dress featured strategically placed red stripes. She paired the look with Pigalle Christian Louboutins and big metallic necklace.
Personally, I loved the look, but I could understand how one might think it's bordering on the tacky.
